A lift spends a lot of its day braking – a full car going down, an empty car going up. Regenerative drives turn that braking energy back into electricity for the building instead of dumping it as heat.
Where the saving comes from
The saving depends on trips per day, travel height and load pattern. High-traffic towers see the biggest effect; a two-floor home lift sees very little.
What to ask your supplier
Ask for the measured consumption of the specific model at your building’s duty cycle, not a generic percentage.
